Building More Than Just a Lending Library – The Builder’s Book Nook

Building strong communities sometimes means building something more meaningful than what’s on a blueprint. It’s about building opportunities, fostering curiosity, and inspiring the next generation. That’s why we’re so proud to announce a new community lending library, just outside our Longwood office. The Builders’ Book Nook is a project that is so much more than a box of books; it is the result of the work by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and its annual NAWIC Girls’ Construction Camp.

This isn’t your average summer camp; it’s a hands-on experience where high school girls get to learn the fundamentals of construction, from safety protocols to using tools. The camp is designed to introduce girls to the diverse and rewarding career paths available in the construction industry. The community library is a testament to what can be achieved when we invest in workforce development and empower young people. A special thank you to our Account Executive, Kelly Phelan and our Business Director, Mariel Coleman, who spent the entire week at the camp assisting with the various campers’ projects.

This Builders’ Book Nook is stocked with a variety of books for all ages, with a special focus on books that encourage an interest in construction, engineering, surety, and skilled trades. We believe that early exposure to these fields can spark a lifelong passion. It’s a place where kids can come, pick up a book, and maybe see themselves as the architects, builders and surety underwriters of tomorrow.

This project is a perfect example of our commitment to giving back and building a brighter future. We’re not just in the business of surety bonds; we’re in the business of building strong communities by expanding and sharing knowledge and promoting literacy.
